Lots of people have written books about using graphical techniques for planning, but I don’t know of anyone who actually shows examples of people using these techniques over a sustained period.
So I thought it would be useful to track the way I use drawing to plan and manage my creative and business projects over the course of 100 days. The image above is my first installment. I am calling the project 100 Days Envizualized. The project will run from May 7-August 14, 2009.
A few notes on how this is going to work:
1) I will create at least one drawing a day. Weekdays, when i am able, I will upload images the same day. If I am traveling or just plain busy, I may upload a day or two late.
2) Some drawings will be pretty rough. I want to show reality, not polish. I don’t have time to go all Leonardo Da Vinci everyday. The idea is that they make me more effective, not suck all my time away making pretty drawings.
3) Weekend and vacation days, I will do drawings, but they will probably just be about capturing a mood. They probably won’t be work focused.
4) Once I finish the 100 days, I will take a few weeks to add annotation and some “how to” material as an eBook.
I am excited to see what I learn about my own process through this project. I’d love to hear your thoughts or see other examples of how people use drawings to plan and manage stuff.
